A good listen starts with a sound check.
Use your own phone, tablet or laptop at an in-person lecture. Connect headphones, open Classroom and sign in with your Mobility account.
1. Connect and check
Connect the headphones before starting. Press “Check microphone & sound”, allow microphone access, and confirm you hear the chime in the headphones. Speak near the device and look for input signal. Select a different microphone if needed.
2. Choose your languages
Select the language used by the speaker and the language you want to hear. Each session uses one source and one target language. The default is English to Romanian.
3. Keep the page in front
Tap Start listening and keep your screen unlocked. Hiding the page pauses capture and playback. Screen wake lock is requested where available, but it is not a guarantee of background operation.
4. Use the controls
Pause stops capture, processing and voice. Resume continues from current speech. Voice off keeps text translation running and uses minutes, without building a hidden voice queue. Stop ends the session. Catch up to live discards queued voice and keeps the received text visible.
5. Understand the limits
Minutes count processed audio, including silence while listening. One account supports one authenticated device and one active Classroom session. A new login ends older logins. Headset routing is controlled partly by your device and browser; disconnecting headphones may route sound to the speaker. Classroom pauses when a device change is detected, but detection is not universal.
If something interrupts the session
Check your microphone permission, internet and remaining minutes. A connection interruption may leave a gap in the lecture. Old microphone audio is not queued for delayed upload. If automatic recovery fails, resume manually. Bluetooth, incoming calls and long lectures should be tested on your own device before relying on Classroom.
